This was a scenic design project for a theater class in school. For this project, I was able to create a scene from the play Death of a Salesman. The main character in the play, Willy Loman, is an aging salesman with signs of depression and dementia. In many scenes during this play, Willy has numerous flashbacks. The challenge I wanted to solve with the design was how to transport the audience into Willy's flashbacks without physically changing anything on the stage. My solution is to use Projection Mapping to turn the walls of the set into video representations of what is happening in Willy's mind. In the first image below, with the projection technique being used, you are taken to tree-lined streets in Boston during Autumn. Willy also has several flashbacks about an affair he had at one point in his past. The final image represents these visions. This project was completed using Sketchup and Photoshop.
